Our Club

“We Focus on Promoting Interest in Taxation”

The Zicklin Tax Society was founded in the summer of 2007 by students of Professor David Cenedella’s Taxation class. With the support of Baruch’s Taxation faculty, the founding members are driven and motivated to educate fellow students in their pursuit for a career in tax.

Baruch College is well-known for its strong accounting program. The Tax Society was founded by graduate students studying for their Master’s in Accountancy. Within this program there are two tax courses, Federal Income Taxation and Taxation of Business Entities. Even though accounting and tax go hand in hand, the members of the Tax Society recognized the demand for knowledge of careers in tax. Our founders and other members had a small taste of tax from these two classes and decided to build on this interest. This growing interest in tax among students at Baruch and the Tax Society is the sole reason why we work together to cultivate individual growth and provide fellow students with a wealth of information. Our information comes from tax professors, tax professionals from networking events and members who have experience working in tax.

Currently, we have expanded our organization to the undergraduate classmen and they have formed an undergraduate division of the Zicklin Tax Society. With the help of our dedicated officers, the Tax Society is constantly growing and serves as a meeting place for students interested in careers in tax. We plan to bring tax professionals and alumni to Baruch College to speak about their career paths and help our members understand the different fields of tax.

Our most recent undertaking is the co-sponsorship of VITA. We plan to bring our members with tax knowledge and experience to participate in the program and guide individuals with their tax returns. This alliance will benefit both of our organizations and provide understanding to individuals seeking tax help.
